laid up this week, and only able
to get about the office with a
crutch, all because he slipped
while stepping out of his car, at
his home. In falling he twisted
the liguments in his leg. Being

He expects to be laid up for sev­
eral days.
Mrs. Maxine Caldwell of M er­
rill, Oregon, is visiting this week
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Hal Emery on Laurel Street. Ac­
companying Mrs. Caldwell is her
son David.

John Winthrop Witcher, of
Lebanon, Oregon was arrested by
city police the past week end, on
a charge of disorderly conduct,
was handed a fine of $150 and
costs of $2.50 and sentenced to
20 days in jail in city court after
pleading guilty to the charge. On
a promise of good behavior and
payment of $50 and costs, the
20 day jai, sentence and $100 of
the fine was suspended. The man
was arrested after it was learned
he had come to Ashland to stir up
trouble between two recently
wed Ashland residents, claiming
that the bride had his automobile,
owed him money etc., nnd that
he intended to recover the same
without due process of law. He
was also charged with making
false represen tut ions to the police
and going under an assumed
name.
J. D. Parker of Oregon City is
in town on business.
W. J. File of Los Angeles is in
Ashland on business this week.
Mr. und Mrs. Hugh Eskridge
have purchased property in Ash­
land. Mr. Eskridge is one of the
new teachers in Ashland High.
