Grinding Grain
Grinding grain for dairy cows is
a recommended practice. Greater
milk production, especially with high
producing cows, was obtained in all
of the experiments at the Texas
agricultural station when ground
grains were fed. Most of this great­
er production appeared to be due to
the greatef amount of ground grain
consumed. Even though more grain
was eaten, the cows getting ground
feed produced enough additional
milk to justify the practice.

of alfalfa, according to U. S. depart­
ment of agriculture experiments.
Grown for two generations in a
mild climate, a hardy alfalfa will
“ go soft” and its seed will produce
