A rejuvenuted Ashland base­
ball team won Its second game
in a row Sunday when they
defeated Central Point 10 to 8 on|
Fuller Field. Ashland, with Char­
ley Douglas doing the pitching,
held a 0-0 lead In the» sixth f
frame when Fred Jones relieved
him. Between Jones and Jack
Zlttercob, who finished the
game, Central Point closed the
gap. Douglas was credited with j
the victory.
The win put Ashland In a tie
with Central Point for fourth
place In the league und strength­
ened their hopes for a spot In the
Shuughnessy pluy-ofl^ to be
held ut Medford about the mid­
dle of August.

and precise understanding of his

discretion and loyalty greatly
faclllated the conduct of fin
ance operations within the Fifth
Army and between Fifth Army
and other headquarters. He ren­
dered valuable assistance» in
formulating financing proced­
ures relative to local procure­
ment problems and in promoting
Soldiers' Savings Plains. His ex­
peditious handling of enor­
mous quantities of funds cap­
tured from the enemy and his
prompt establishment of finance
facilities to service troops dur­
ing redeployment status were
exceptional
accomplishments.
His service contributed m aterial­
ly to the successes attained in
Italy, and reflects credit upon
himself and the Army of the
United States. Entered military
service from Corvallis, Oregon.
