was observed at the Southern
Oregon College of Education
Wednesday morning, May 9, with
un hour of ceremonies which in­
cluded music, readings, and a
fifteen minute address by R. W.
McNeal. The speuker drew a
contrast between the battle scar­
red lands of Europe and the more
fortunate state ut America. Am­
ericans, he stated, cannot forget
the debt of gratitude due mem­
bers of the armed forces whose
sacrifices have saved America
fro m devastation, and brought a
day of victory.
Miss Jerrine Mote of the Lin­
coln School faculty was pianist
for musical selections of patriotic er.

Bert Motner, representative of
the Ashland motion picture in­
dustry was the; week called upon
by the Motion Picture Division
of the War Activities Committee
to spearhead the local theatre
participation in the 7th War Loan
Drive. Because of the terrific job
done by the movies industry as
a whole, during the 6th War Loan
Drive, Treasury Department lead­
ers have again asked the show­
men of America to put their faci­
lities and their energy behind
this great fourteen billion dollar
task. The 7th War Loan is being
called the “Showmen’s 7th”.
A general meeting of the in­
dustry was held last week in
Portland. National leaders were
present to tell the 7th War Loan
—
1944-45: “Deepening Fellowship
Through Christ.” Plan to bring
un offering of money for extend­
ing the fellowship into the far
places of the earth.
