Ashland Schools Start Baliots
From County
Monday Morn, Sept 11
From all indications, a good
many soldiers from Jackson
county are planning to vote thi3
fall, County Clerk George Car
ter said at Medford.
Carter said that 730 applica
tions have been received so far
for soldier's ballots, with 161 ap
plications arriving on one day
alone.
Ballots will not be put in the
mail until after September 27,
the last day for candidates to
withdraw, or to get on the ballot.
The last day the ballots can be
mailed out is October 27.
If the ballots do not reach the
soldier in time for marking and
returning to the county, the sol
diers can apply for the federal
ballot, which will have candi
dates for president, and for sen
ators and congressmen. The sol
dier, however, must have tried
to get a state ballot first.—Med

Local Church Is Horse Show Is Popular
Is Being Improved Monday With Locals
Following out a plan of contin
uous improvement in physical
plant which has included in past
years an organ, a new roof, and
carpeting of the sanctuary, work
men began in the Presbyterian
Church Monday to redecorate
the interior of the rotunda. The
walls and ceiling of the room
are being finished in ivory and
the material being used is Weath
erwood insulating tile board
. laid in block effect.
* It is planned that this work
will not only transform the room
in terms of beauty, which is al
ready evident, but that accous-
tics will be improved and insula-
i tion greatly helped.
I From the progress already
made, it is certain that this part
of the church will be again ready
for use by Sunday, September
10th, when there is to be a Rally
Day for the entire church. The
improvements are being made
under the competent direction of
Mrs. Imogene Smith of Medford
who is a member of the church.
