6, 1875. The fam ily has resided in

Report to Rotary Club
O. N. W ray, who recently a t ­
tended the d istrict m eeting of
R otary clubs a t Victoria, B ritish
Columbia, m ade a report to the
re g u lar weekly m eeting of the lo­
cal R otary a t the T hursday lunch­
eon. He told of the fine coopera­
tive sp irit of relations between the
C anadians and A m ericans and of
the activities of o ther clubs in
the district, and told of the work
of one sm all C anadian R otary
which raised $37,000 in the auc­
tion of a farm , in the s ta rt of a
cam paign to raise $200,000 to
build a com m unity center.

The A shland fire dep artm en t
was called to the vicinity of Nev­
ad a s tre e t S unday afternoon when
a shed containing about a hundred
lettuce and vegatable crates went
up in smoke. The p roperty belong-
ed to a Mr. Mayfield, and the fire
d ep artm en t reported th a t shed
and co n ten ts would be valued a t
some $200. F ire was caused by
tw o youngsters playing w ith
m atches in the shed. P rom pt a c t­
ion on the p a rt of th e fire d ep a rt­
m ent and ab out 50 or so neighbors
prevented the fire spreading to
nearby buildings on the M ayfield
place, but the fire did spread to
nearby vacan t fields and about 50
acres of d ry g ra ss and weeds wer
burned before the fire could be
