Another columnist in the same
Medford paper was heard to say,
after Provost scored the first
touchdown, "the score will be only
50 to 6 now instead of 50 to 0.”
There wasn't a word about the
ball game in his column in Sun
day’s Medford paper.

This department wail ta to
congratulate Billy Hulen on
his fine write-up of the gaine
in his Medford paper and sug
gest if he wants a good alibi,
please turn to the editorial
page uf the Sunday Tribune
where It states that the only
alibi Medford could powdbli
have is that the Ashland ball
club was too good.

Yes. after waiting 12 long years
to see it, Ashland dumped the
Medford Tigers 20-13 at Medford
last Friday night The Grizzlies
slowed the powerful Black Tor
nado down to a "itty-bitty" breeze
and outplayed them all evening.
l^ist week an article appeared
in the sports column of a Medford
■ paper stating that the Tigers were
in search of a strong club for a
Thanksgiving day game in Med
ford. It seemed that there wasn't
anything in the state powerful
enough to oppose Medford so there
was talk of booking some Wash
ington club. Isn't this kind of like
having something under your nose
and not being able to see it ?
The whole club played an ex
cellent game. They were inspired
from the very beginning and never
onCe let down. Even Jack Sears,
the Grizzly waterboy, was right
in there when he should be to car
ry the drinks to the gang.
Ganged around your writer were I
several Medford fans and they
continually admired the easiness
in the way Charlie Jandreau pass
ed and often commented on the
blocking and ball-carrying of the
other Lithia City boys
The mythical state champion
ship game that Medford has been
talking about looks more like just
just another ball game now. Even
when the season first started the
afore-mentioned sports column
started shooting off about the
state championship Tigers, We
wonder if they failed to reckon
with Ashland or did they think
the Grizzlies were going to be a
push-over.
That undefeated record of which
Medford boasted so much didn't
impress the Grizzlies in the least.
They just set their claws into the
Medford turf, growled a couple of
times and let the Tigers have
fro mevery angle.
mg it was decidei^that all teams in
the league will compete in a 16
game schedule Tills new rule in
creased the number of conference
games, making It (Misslble for each
team to play the other four times
instead of twice. Included In this
conference are Southern Oregon
College of Education, Ashland.
Eastern Oregon College of Educa
tion.
(¡ramie; Oregon College
of Education, Monmouth, Albany
College of Portland, and Mt Angel
College.
Southern Oregon College s»f
Education, which last year tied
with I .a Grande for the conference
championship, will play eight
home conference games in addi
tion to four definite tilts with the
Humboldt State Teachers' college
Also tentatively planned are non-
conference encounters with Chico,
Whitman. Northwest Nazarene
College of Nampa, Rubenstein's,
and McChord Field.
