State fair crowds may see right
before their eyes the testing of
hamburgers, butter, coffee cream,
ice cream and milk served on the
grounds during fair week, Sept. 1
to 7, inclusive.
This will happen because for
the first time in history the state
department of agriculture (which
operates the fair) will have a
working exhibit on the fair
grounds at Salem. The department
has chosen for its display part of
the laboratory equipment and
some of the weights and mea
sures apparatus from the division
of foods and dairies.
Actual official tests of the foods
mentined will be made in the lab
oratory on the grounds by A. H.
Dewey, assistant chief chemist,
and Ruth Ward, laboratory bac
teriologist.
The department’s weights and
measures
