GRIZZLIES DRAW BYE IN GRID SCHEDULE Number 42 AN unusual air show, featuring Faye Lucille Cox, foremost American parachute jumper, has been scheduled for the Ashland airport starting at 2:30 p. m. Sun day, Oct. 22. Main attraction of the afternoon will be Faye Cox’s ''dive of death,” a delayed chute drop starting at 10,000 feet, the daredevil plummeting to within 1500 feet of the ground before pulling her rip cord. The drop ls said to be aviation's greatest thrill, Mrs. Cox being the only lady jumper in America licensed by the Civil Aeronautics authority to make delayed jumps, and she holds every recognized record for women. During her spectacular dive she wUl mark the course of her fall with a trail of smoke. Among other features of the show will be a demonstration of parachute packing, plane stunting and passenger flights. Three ships will be brought here for the event by M. C. Cox, advance man for the stunters, who were featured during the Oregon air tour. Mrs. Cox is the only woman to perform under contract at the na tional air races in Cleveland for four years straight and has made more jumps than any other wom an in the country. Sunday's leap will be her 553rd and her last in the state this year, the show going south from Ashland to join Tex Rankin, Hollywood and Ore gon ace, for the winter season. Cox himself is a flyer of 24 years experience, having been a soldier of fortune in Mexico, where he flew bombing planes for Gov ernor Rodríguez during a revolu tion. He also used to train lions in a circus and is an old stunt man dating back from the days when leaps were made from hot air balloons. Besides the jump, two stunting exhibitions will be held at the airport, where ample parking space will be available. Through a National Youth administration allotment, Ashland high school is per mitted to offer a limited num ber of jobs which will enable unemployed students to earn while they learn, and is part of a national program to help youth earn and learn.
