As Secretary of State Earl Snell says, there seem to be as many solutions to the difficulty as there are persons thinking on the subject. With violent deaths and serious injuries on the increase in Oregon, it behooves all of us to give more than passing thought to the subject, for we never know when automotive bloodshed will stain our lives and the lives of those close to us. Happy, well relatives and friends one moment, an other and they easily—and often through no fault of their own—are butchered into tangled, bleeding heaps gasping for their last breaths by highway speed, care lessness and coincidence. The highway problem is our problem—each and all of us, whether we drive, ride or walk. Although traffic regulations and rigid enforcement will do much toward lessening the awful consequences of automobile accidents, still it remains for the individual to interest himself in the problem before much noticeable progress can be made.
