Dunn Reappointed To

Fruit Alcohol Plans Sen George W Dunn, Ashland,
In response tq the Talent plan­
ning commission's plan to pro­
mote a power alcohol industry in
this area, using waste fruit pro­
ducts as raw materials, the Port­
land chamber of commerce replied
with. "We have checked with
many of the distributors of in­
dustrial alcohol and they assure
us that there is an exceptionally
good market in the Pacific North­
west for industrial alcohol as well
as on the Pacific coast."
Edward N. Weinbaum, manager
uf the trade and commerce de­
partment, wrote to Karl Baylor,
president of the Talent commis­
sion and offered aid of his in­
dustries department in the Talent
project.

Fire Destroys Small
Frame House Sunday
Fire caused by a living room
heating stove completely destroy­
ed a small frame dwelling occu­
pied by Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Webster, about 3 p. m. Sunday
while residents were away.
The blaze was detected by a
passing hitch-hiker but was a
blazing inferno when firemen ar­
rived and nothing was saved.
The building is owned by Ralph
and Hower Billings, and was rent­
ed unfurnished to the Websters.
Loss is estimated at several hun­
dred dollars.
