Fire destroyed the home of Carl
Beeson of Talent in a Christmas
morning conflagration which com
pletely ci stroyed the home
The fire, which was supposeded-
)y due to defective wiring or a bad
flue, started in the attic and, whip
ped by winds, spread over the en
tire house before the Talent Fire
Department could function. The
Ashland fire department was call
ed, but arrived Ux> late The loss
I partly covered by insurance, was
greatly lowered by speedy action
I of neighbors who saved most of
the furniture
Mr. and Mrs. George Shuler en
tertained a group of friends at a
dancing party Dec. 24 at their
home at Hyde Park Forty guests
enjoyed merrymaking to the mus
ic of the Morgan orchestra
MaUline Maxwell was very much
surprised Saturday afternoon when
a number of her classmates came
to help her celebrate her seventh
birthday. Games were played, af
ter which a lunch was served. In
vited the guests were the pupils of
I the second grade and Shirley Reid
and Buddy Kincaid.

to spend Christmas with his moth
er and Mr William Maxwell
Mr. and Mrs Roland Parks, who
are teaching in Malin, Oregon, are
visiting at the home of Mr. and
Mrs R F Parks of Talent and
Mrs W. C. Bevington of Ashland

Mr. and Mrs. Verne Decker were i
hosts at a bounteous Christmas
dinner at their home in Talent on
Christmas day. Besides the family
group were Mrs R A. Miller and
daughter; Mrs. M M Decker of
Ashland; enjoyed the gathering.
Mr. and Mrs Charles Wayne
Coudrey and son Carl, accompan
ied by Mr. and Mrs. Erwin War
ner of the Greensprings district,
left Sumiay evening for a week's
visit in Oakland. California, with
friends and relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Warner will visit
at the home of Mr. Warner's
mother, Mrs Lou Forbes, and his
sister, Mrs. Sam Chisholm.
Mr.
and Mrs. Coudrey will spend their
week at Mrs. Coudrey's grand
mother’s. Mrs. Ida Reynolds.
Many Talent folks attended the
Christmas programs at Ashland
and Medford, as well as the thea
tre programs and Elks Charity
ball
Mr. and Mrs. William Maxwell
spent Christmas day in Roseberg
visiting relatives and enjoying the
Christmas festivities.
Mr. John Wagemoth of Talent
passed away Sunday morning at
the Sacred Heart Hospital Mr.
Wagonoth has lived the greater
part of his past life around Talent.
He had many friends who regret
his passing Altho blind and afflic
ted for many years, he was always
cheerful and a good neighbor. He
is survived by his wife Lizzy, one
'laughter, Mrs. Warren Bax, and
two grandchildren who have the
sympathy of their friends and
neighbors.
Mr and Mrs. Fred Hodapp and
two daughters, Mary and Maxine,
spent Christmas day with Mr and
Mrs. Walter Mann of Ashland.
Rev. and Mrs. Lewsadder had
for their guests for the holidays
their son Walter, wife and three
children of Portland.
Mrs Alice O’Bryne, teacher at
Forest Creek, is spending her va
cation with her sister, Mrs. Thurs
ton.
Mrs. Ix*uise Cambest had for
Christmas dinner guests, her son.
Tiny of Bonanza, Hugh and fam
ily of Anderson Creek and Mr.
Frank Cameron and wife of the
Applegate country,
Friends of Wiley Hill will be
pleased to hear that he is rapidly
recovering and It ia to be hoped
he will soon be out again after a
serious illness.

And finish some jobs that were left undone.

Bring peace and hope and good will and cheer;

Bring calm to the clamor and stress and strife,
And help us win toward the best in life
And to conquer Hate and to boost for Joy.
