Apple Polishing Taboo In New VQR Club At Southern Ore. Normal COLOREDSTAGE SHOW TO LITHIA A new organization, destined to promote social relations between students at Southern Oregon Nor mal school, and to give whole hearted support to all Sons ath letics. was recently launched un der the title VQR. Attendance in a body of its 20 members at all assemblies and athletic events is part of the VQR program, according to Gib Wile”, president. Following an assembly last week, the club was first to volunteer financial aid toward sending the normal quintet to Den ver for the A AU championships. “Apple polishing" has been placed on the strictly taboo list for VQR members, and furtherance of fellowship and recreation have been set as chief objectives of the new student group. The Lithia theater is presenting on its stage Sunday only the great est all-colored revue of its kind in America today, "The Darktown Scandals." The show is one hour of fast stepping, dancing, har- mony, comedy and rhythm, Hear these folks who gave us the blues song sing them as only the darkey can . . . see them dance as only the negro with his soul filled with rhythm can dance . . . hear Ned Stanfield, king of the ivories, play the piano in his own inimitable way . . . hear Ida Cox. Harlem's queen of the blues, laugh at the droll humor of Sam Robinson. The Cotton Pickers, a Victor recording orchestra, provide a melodic back ground for all of the many acts. On the screen with this colored jamboree is "Bachelor of Arts." an honest picture of college life writ ten by America's foremost sa tirical humorist. John Erskine Erskine knows college life inti mately and he has confessed that he was irked by the far-fetched and fantastic stories current today, so he wrote a "college story with out a football game." Tom Brown and Anita Louise play the leads in this picture and are supported by Henry B. Walthall, Mae Marsh. Arline Judge, Stepin Fetchit and many others. ----------- •------------ The beat way to treat a com mon cold, we read, is to rest in bed for several days.
