The Editor Speaking
(Continued from page one)
We have been blaming our con
temptuous contemporary, Llewel
lyn A. Banks, for the trouble in
Jackson county, and he is tne or
iginal cause of it. Taking advant
age of the unrest and unemploy
ment, the west's champion dead
beat has conducted an intensive
three-year campaign to poison the
minds ot the more uninto>uied citi
zens. He has brought his followers
around to the point where tney be

such a situation to develop? Who
has been sitting around idly on
their cushioned anatomy while the
opposition has formed one of the
county's strongest political ma-

raving lunatic run blufrs and get
away with them? And, now that
law and order just about KAo

and property and life is threatened
seriously by a group wnich refuses
to recognize the courts and arrest

much more powerful—but totally

Long an addict to more mild forms of extortion, blackmail
and slander, it is no surprise to dose followers of the row
hat Banks now has resorted to threats of actual violence and
bloodshed to gain his ends. Just Tuesday of this week, when
former counsel M. O. Wilkins was hailed before the grand

that if he produced evidence against Banks he would not leave

It would be to Llewellyn A. Banks’ credit if he could prove

has ever attacked the good people of Jackson county. To prove
