Hall last night was a splendid suocess,

dancing, also appreciating the refresh
ments so well Served.
An event Which has awakened keen in
terest among social Portland. Is a lawn
fete to be given for the benefit of the
Seamen's Mission the evening of Thurs
day, July 10k in the spacious and beauti
ful grounds of the Weidler home. Nine

veloped a nw 'business. Coal dust is be
ing sold at retail. Within the last month
the demand for the dust has Increased

100 per eent duriht the lat tew weeks,

the present 'cost of anthracite eoal. It
now retails at ;1.W s ton. Speaking of
the oal dus situation, a prominent
Philadelphia dealer said ths other day:

for anthracite .ooal dust as at present.
Th manufacturers are beginning to real
ise the great value of this dust tor steam
purposes. I remember the time, and not
so long ago, either, that I had to pay
teamsters to haul this dust from my
yards and dump it on the vacant lots in
fSouth .Philadelphia; ..Now I .would like
