THE MARKETS.
There was not a single change In the
quotations in the local markets today.
ftislnesa was rather fair and receipt
liberal in all lines.
Af la cents eggs are steady. Receipts
lire good but the demand continues
beavy.
Poultry still continues in large receipts,
especially young springs. Quotations are
weak. Today no changes occurred on
quotations.
The waeat market does not ehow any
changes today either in quotation or de
mand. Tbere is a fair supply of California
flat Dutch cabbage in the market today.
Tomatoes are still scarce, the only re
ceipts being from MisaiBslppi. The mar
ket la still overstocked with eeoond grade

day. "I was organist at Christ Church,
at Hartord, and aa afternoon service
was- being held one day when I noticed
a disturbance in the gallery. Two mis
chievous boys were trying to make some
boarding-school girls . laugh. I warned
the boy to be quiet, but they didn't heed
me. Instead, the racket got worse. 1
hastily left the organ loft and, reaching
the pew where the boys were, I boxed
their ear soundly and led them from the
church also by. the.iar. One of the boys
was Morgan. The other was Clarence
Sterry, now one of the leading insurance

North Carolina Man Patents an
Automatic Dating Machine.

WILMINGTON, N, C, June 19.
Thomas R. Post of this city, cashier of
the Atlantic Coast Line, has patented
an automatic dating machine. Its prin
cipal advantage is a dotachuble signature
die -that can be removed and any other
signature substituted In its place. By
this arrangement in a business house
where several are employed every man
can carry In his 'pocket the die -for his
own signature and Insert It into the
machine In a second when he wants to
use the machine. In this way every
receipt that Is given may be traced
back to the man that gives It. The
placing of dates is simplified and there la
an automatic self-Inking attachment,
fresh Ink being applied to the ribbon
every time the machine Is used. There la
five-sixths less ribbon used than in other
machines and the ribbon revolves con
stantly In one direction.
