Library Eugene, Oregon RECORDS Of PAST YEAR SMASHED BY HOLIDAY BUSINESS Before the middle of December and just on the eve of the usual Christmas rush, the Beaverton post office has exceeded the $40,000 vol ume mark needed to retain first class standing according to Don ald L. Jenkins, postmaster By Decembei 12, in fact, the post office was already ahead of last year’s gross receipts of $41,500. The increase in November ovei last year was 25.40C-. Over the first week in December of 1948. the gain was 650L Saturday, December 10. over 120 sacks and outside parcels left the Beaverton office and stamp sales amounted to over $800. Jenkins feels that new equipment and ex tra window which the office re ceived for their new location this year will make service quicker for patrons and the work easier for employees.
