Congratulations are in order to
the migratory waterfowl conserva
tionists and to the sportsmen of
of the Pacific Flyway, who have
done much to warrant the longest
duck hunting season since the de
crease of ’47.
Incidentally, the
longest season and the greatest
bag limit of all the flywaye will be
enjoyed
by the Pacific Flyway
this year.
The drought conditions in the
Canadian provinces, the one ser
ious setback, did not have a dis-
asterious effect on the Pacific
Flyway; so our Northwest Honker

Hernisphere. Yet what a pity that
there is never enough wintering
grounds to accomodate this great
volumn of migrating ducks This
is something for the Pacjfic Coast
duck hunters to sink their teeth
into and fight for adequate win

has been well spearheaded by the
Western Game Commission, Fish

Unlimited, so let’s get in the fight
also for wintering grounds.
Latest word is that the ducks
are moving early this year —

Florence Miller
Finds Plentiful
Fish In Colorado
In a letter from Colorado Springs,
Colorado. Florence Miller, who for
merly operated Florence’s Beauty
Shop in Beaverton, find that fish
are plentiful in her new location.
Or at least she knows there was
at least one fish.
A fter having fished all over Col
orado during last summer, some
times driving as much as 700 or
800 miles in a stretch, and getting
no fish, she found a little lake
close to home that looked possible.
Breaking out their fishing gear,
she and her husband borrowed
two worms and in about 20 minutes
had one of the nicest, fattest trout
there ever was.
Florence is still trying to decide
what adage will fit the situation—
whether "Grass is greener on the
other side of the fence" or some
other literary wisecrack.
She reports that the weather is
nice in Colorado. Cool mornings
and evenings, it is hot in the after
noon.
