Saw Tik Anderson last week and was reminded of the first time I ever spoke to him. The missus had sent me out one Saturday afternoon to hunt for some blackberries. I took a long hike and couldn’t find any. Finally, 1 came to Tik’s house along that low.stretch east of the fork on River Road. “ Hi there,” I says, “any blackberries around here?” Tik says, "There used to be—but I don’t know much about things that grow wild." Later, I found how Tik supports his family by picking berries. Ever since. I’ve been like the rest of folks in town —respectful of his right not to tell where “his” berries grow. From where I sit, respecting other folks’ rights comes natural in our town . . . in America for that matter! Whether it’s a person's right to enjoy a temperate glass of beer or ale, or whether it’s Tik Anderson's right to keep secret where his berries are, it’s all a big part of a real democracy! Torvend County Agent. This spray should be applied as soon as each variety of peaches is picked and beforp the fall rains begin. For this spray the county office recommends three-fourths of one pound of phygon per 100 gallons of water, and this spray to be used without spreader or sticker. In cases where peach leaf curl was particularly severe last year it is suggested that instead of following the phvgon sprav pro gram that a 8-8-100 Bordeaux spray he used. This spray should not be applied before the 15th of September. An earlier application of Bordeaux may cause severe injury to young wood of many varieties of peaches and may also cause premature defoliation. The only reason for recommend ing Bordeaux in cases o f severe peach leaf curl over the use of i phvgon is because it has a greater lasting effect. | A LEARNING TH A T Concr et e 1 100 SUITS Spraying In Fall For Peach Blight Due Before Rain S TA R TIN G FEED One of the best starting feeds for baby pigs Is rolled oats.
