All that has to be done to create local shopping habits on the part of people of the com munity is to give them REASONS for coming Into the town. In this case it was a combined Sat- urday-Is-Reaverton-Day promotion plus the opening of the Beaver ton Pharmacy that did the trick. Local merchants need have no fear of the pul] from Portland, so tong as shoppers can see identi cal prices combined with better service and conveniences right in their home area. The idea is to SHOW them that they DO have those advantages here. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mayer, formerly o f Seaside, have taken over Bailey’s Ice Cream Parlor. They will continue to feature home-made Ice cream as well as light lunches. Another sale along the same line was made with the purchase of Jack Gb-asnn's Sky- Way Cafe on Canyon Road last week toMr. and Mrs. Vcrn Male of Hillsboro.
