E. W. Ellis, route 2. box 513,
who pioneered the distribution of
dog food to retail stores, recently
visited the big modem plant of
the American Products company
of Yakima to see in operation the
production and processing of dog
food.
Over $30,000 worth of equipment,
in cookers, refrigeration and other
facilities, is used in the big ^ j d
ern set-up. Mr. Ellis reports. The
plant's capacity is 480 cases ev­
ery 8 hours of operation.
Forty per cent of the dog food
processed is meat ami one of the
major departments of the plant.
Ellis notes. Is the selection and
care of horsemeat.
“ Not dead carcasses,” he said,
“ but farm horses that walk into
the plant before they are killed,
dressed and hung in refrigerated
rooms.”
As a pioneer In the dog food
business. Ellis says he has a per­
sonal Interest in the American
Products company, as a result of
many years of business contact.
The company, through his repre­
