In a torrential rain, Sunday,
January
4, a foundling babe,
about six months of age, was left
on the doorstep of Dr. N. E.
Johnson, on Canyon Road near
the East “ Y ” , Beaverton. Accom
panying the foundling was a
note, written in a cramped hand,
beseeching the doctor to find a
good home in which better things
migt be in prospect.
Touched by the note, and the
beguiling personality of the ram-
soaked urchin Dr. Johnson re
port« that he will try to place
the foundling, whose only re
ported name is Betsy, in a
private home where she may
have the advantages of a proper
upbringing He stoutly maintains
he will not attempt to make a
placement through a social agen
cy. Rather, by exhaustive invest
igation, he maintains he will be
as well qualified as social work

He estimates her age to be
about six months Her hair is
medium long and, perhaps be
cause of the harrowing experi
ence in connection with
her
abandonment. Is almost entirely
white. Only on the forehead and
both ears is the hair black . . .
and her tail is long.
Anyone whose heart is touched
by the sad abandonment of the
foundling and who will be will
ing to make a place in his home,
is asked to contact Dr. N. E.
Johnson, at the veterinarian hos
pital near Haskell center
Even a mongrel dog, the doc
tor says, may develop into a
