horseback riding in this part of the
country. There is the Portland Hunt
Cluh, Nicol’s Hiding Academy, and the
Highlands for devotees of “ English” rid­
ing and Hay's Western Riders for those
whoeniov western style.
Tualatin Valley Schools offer training
and competition in haseliall. football,
tennis and boxing to develop and enter­
tain the older children.
Avalon Park and Roamers Rest on the
Tualatin river, afford boating, swim­
ming and picnic «[rounds.
There are still manv facilities needed in
the Tualatin Valley which can be secur­
ed only through cooperative efforts.
The Portland Golf Club, one of the fin­
est and most sporting in the Northwest is
situated in the heart of the Tualatin Val-
Plavground equipment recently install­
ed in the Beaverton city parks is a sam­
ple of the results of such cooperation.
Congenial companionship is a source ot
human happiness. Many organizaions in
the Tualatin Valley afford its people the
kind of friendships they want. The for­
mal organisations include the Kiwanis,
the Masonic orders, Jr. Chamber of Com­
merce, Granges, Rehekahs, Odd Fellows,
American Legion and its Auxiliary, Vet­
erans of Foreign ars, P. T. A. and Hie
various church organisations. Also many
informal groups of friends form to enjoy

There is a great need for active commun­
ity clubs where more people can get ac­
quainted and where problems of com­
mon interest can be taken up and solved.
There is a need for a community center,
for a swimming pool, skating rink, a
howling alley, and a teen-howling alley,
and a teenage recreation center which
includes a dance ball.
Only through cooperative efforts can we
meet these needs. Let's start todav!
