Now PGE makes it easier than ever before with a new low
rate providing homes and-farms with electricity literally
“cheap enough to burn.” The new lqw rate is designed to
encourage the use of electricity for aU purposes in the home
and on the farm. PGE customers now using electricity for
cooking and water heating will get this new rate upon upplica-
tum. Others will qualify and can apply as soon as they install
both an dcctric range and water heater.
Greater use of electricity makes possible lower rates. The

“ All-Electric” rate speeds this trend for all and gives advance
savings to customers who use electricity for two of the most
important home jobs—cooking and water heating.
Pennies are now too big to measure the cost of kilowatt-
hours in PGE territory! The cost is down to mills. Under the
new rate, range and water heater users will get 300 kilowatt-
hours of electricity for a minimum charge of only S4.50, and
another 700 for 6 mills per kilowatt-hour. Excess kilowatt
hours beyond 1.000 per month cost 8J mills.

The average owner of an electric range, with the usual household
appliance*, now uses about 216 kwh a month at a cost of $4 99. An
electric water heater will make this home eligible for the “ All-Electric’*
race and bring total electnc use to about 540 kwh. which will cost $5.94
under the new rate—an additional cost of only 95c a month for electric
hot water.

The a vet age user of electricrty for appliances, cooking and water
heating now uses about 540 kwh a month at a cost of $733. The same
amount of electricity under the new rate costs $ '9 4 . You will save
$1 39, or 19*.. bv applying for the new rate
installing an electric range.
The average home use of electricity where there is an electric water
heater but no range, is 424 kwh a month, costing $6 52 under PGE’s
general residential schedule No. 8 The new "All-Electric" rate will
apply if an electric range is added. This will bring total consumption up
to 540 kwh a month, and will cost $5.94, an actual saving of 58 cent*
a month after adding a range.
A customer with neither electric cooking
nor water hooting will pay only $2.94
additional for average use of both.
The average home without electric cooking or water heating uses about
100 kwh a month at a cost now of $3 00. The new All-fclectnc" rat*
will apply after adding range and wates heater, and the electric consump­
tion will then be about 540 kwh. costing $5 94 a mouth, an lacrtai*
of only $..94 for both cooking and water heating.
