years, the various parties g et together w ith considerable fanfare and
choose their can d idates for the P resid en cy o f th is country.
It is a
notable affa ir alw ays, and especially this year w hen so m any cou n
tries are at w ar and so m any lands a re liv in g under a system w here
one party is all-suprem e and unchangeable by th e orderly p rocesses of
election.
In th is country, the C om m unist party w a s o n e o f th e first to
m eet.
Sm all in num bers, It h as been loud In Its Insistence upon its
rights in our dem ocracy, rights w hich no citizen enjoys in R ussia,
land of th e p arty’s birth.
R esp ectfu l o f the rig h ts o f m in o r itie s-
even a m inority stand in g for everyth ing th a t tru e A m ericans desp ise
the great radio netw orks of this country a / eed to broadcast the
convention proceedings.
This gave hundreds o f tadio sta tio n s through out the cou n try the
’ opportunity” to schedule th e C om m unist C onvention.
It w as at
this point that the true d ifferen ce betw een tw o w ays o f life w a s re
vealed, for alm ost all o f th e sta tio n s exercised their d em ocratic right
