engineering work there for the past

The Colouel thinks there Is little
doulit hut that No. 'A vein, on which
work was recently started, is the

tory. Ouo dilfcretico between this
vein mid tho others is that the hang
ing wall Is syenite instead of gran
ite, which is regarded iih ii good indi
cation. The drift Ih now iu twelve
ieet mid the ledge shows a width of
ahuiit three. Work is also being
prosecuted ou tho other drifts.
PROBABLY LOOKING
FOR A PROPERTY.
A. lltirch and Frederick llur
bridge, well known mining men of
Spokane, came iu this morning mid
left immediately after noon for the
Cracker Creek district. It Is pre
sinned they me here to examine some
propcily, though no hint was droped
as to what property it Is. or what
their ultimate intentions are.
Hitherto they have shown a decided
inclination to become interested iu
Sutnpter mines.
The Hrui owns the Crane Flat
placets, which are to bo operated this
summer. Messrs. (lurch & llurbridgo
will visit these placers hofore they
leave tho district.

Mrs. J. I. Itlchards will leave
tomorrow to join her husband, who
is carpenter foreman for the Kuciimp
ment Smelter company at (irmid

visit to Portlaud. Ho was going on
through to tho property, he is
making preparations for a big sum
mer's work. Operations have been
gouig ou continuously durlug his
absence.
