Said To Be Second Largest
The sinking plant at the Midway,
operated by the Gelser-IIendryx
Investment company, Is rapidly
being Installed. The boiler, however,
has been delayed in transmission.
The company states that it should
have been here three weeks ago.
The depth capacity of the plant Is
2,000 feet and when completed it
will be the second largest sinking
plant in the state. The double com
partment shaft is now down sixty
feet. The ledge shows a width of
seventy-nine feet, carrying satis
factory ore values.

Miners' Union aod Cittern Arraogc for a
Big Time Labor Day.
Bourne Miners' Union No. 42,
W. F. of M., the business men and
citizens of that town, have arranged
for a grand Labor Day celebration
on September 7th to be held at
Bourn, the contor of tho colobrated
Crackor Crook mining district.
Bouruo Miners' Union has lot
bids for a first class two story
Union hall, to bo dodlcated on tho
evening of the above date with a
grand ball. A commltte of miners,
citizens and busluoss men met, and
a good round sum was subscribed to
guarantee a genuine good timo.
Appropriate contests, amusements
and games, fitting tho occasion, will

The Grant County Nows says that

thoroughly tested. The Jupiter
Gold Mlnlug company, now operat
ing the proporty familiarly known
as the Prairie Diggings ml no, is
preparing to Install uew maobiuery,
including a pump and hoisting
works, for tbo purpose of deep sink
ing ou the gold beariug lodge. The
machinery Is of the new and
approved pattern, and the pump
such aa is used for sinking purposes,
capable of handling all the wator that
finds its way into the shaft. The
hoist is a powerful piece of machin
ery, with a good working capacity
at a depth of 000 feet.
The shaft has a double com
partment and Is 7x0 In the clear.
It will open a practical, worklug
outlet for over 100 tons of ore pre
day, and when finished and furu-
inhed with afutiotiH in its grout
