Darker aud Mr. and Mrs. Swaukhammor, drove to Uoumo last Sunday visiting the North Polo, Columbia and E. and . K. J. Jack Heunessy caino down from the Ooldbug-Grlzzly yesterday. Ho reports having repaired the damage done by the cave-in and to the pumps, by freezing water and now has the shaft satisfactorily dry. Charles A. Jensen, of the federal agricultural department, an expert on soils, was in Sumpter several days since. He came here from Baker City to have Dr. Brock examine him, for a llfo Insurance policy. Miss Lucy Shattuck, daughter of the late Judge E. D. Shattuck, of Portland, arrived in Sumpter this morning, a visitor and guest of Judge V. S. Newbury and family. The families were friends and neighbors in Portland.
