Htops are being taken toward oxtoiitdvo improvements and additions to the property. Large ore rosnrvos have already been blocked out in tho upper workingtt of tho vein. While In tho (juarly.hurg district, Dr. Mueller vhdted the Copporopollx, situated one mile from the Standard. Ho says he found Siiperlntoendeut (lllilm doing good work iu punhing Ills long croHHcut and that he should intercept the vein within tho nitxt few days. The property lookH good. It ha ii vein between llfly and sixty feet iu width, carrying on the outcrop three peiceut of copper. It has a well equipped plant and development Ih going ahead at a good rate. The muds Iu the district, Dr. Mueller Miyn, ate lapidly drying up and will be iu lltt class (ouditloii iu a week or such a matter. RAPID PROGRESS OF SUMPTER. Dr Damerell, of Nebrasba,Says City has Taken Great Strides Since His Last Visit. Dr. Hubert Dumerell and .1. A. ToinliiiHou, of lied L'loud, Nebraska, arrived iu the city lust week to look after mining investments In the din. trict. Dr. Damerell is already in tereHted in Die Sticcs (iiilch aud the Olive Creek placers, operated by the Killeu, Warner, Stewart company, and Mr. TomliUHon has milling prop erty Iu Alaska, but Is desirous of jioqulrlng Interests hen. It is tho first visit of tho latter to the camp, and ho is well pleased with the out look. Dr. Damerell was hero last July. Speaking of tho changes and improvements which ho has noticed in Sumpter since his last visit ho nays: "If 1 am to judge the geuoral progress of tho camp by tho progress tho city has made since my last visit, I will necessarily have to come to Examined the Mammoth. Ho says tho Mammoth company is working a good force of men and doing a lot of dovolopmout work. SAW MILL FOR THE MIDWAY ALSO. Plant Ordered Last Week and to be Installed at Once. In addition to tho hoisting plant, compressor, boilers, pumps and other accessory mining machiuory mentioned iu last week's issue as hav ing been ordered by tho Golsor llendryx company for tho Midway mine, a complete saw mill outllt was ordered last Saturday which is to bo installed on the property. Tho saw mill will have a capacity or 10,000 feet a day and will be used exclusive ly to cut lumber for tho buildings which are to be erected. The machlueiy for tho lumber plant is to be shipped at once, and will be set up when It arrives, which will probably not Ih) over thirty days. Tho saw mill is expected to arrive before the milling machinery, ami it is tho intention of tho com pany to have its builldlngs all up and everything in readiness when the latter gets here, which will bo perhaps something like sixty days. Ity the recent action ot the directors iu authorizing continuous develop ment work, the company is iu a position to operate the property ou an extended scale during the coming summer.
