The mining industry is certainly in u healthy condition all over the country. A great deal of capital is lu'lng Invested, new machinery is be ing installed, and there are general indications of prosperity. The 1 great demand for mining machinery ! shows what is doing in this direction. iHpeakiugof this, tho Western Mining World says: "It is pleasing to note tho general Improved demand from all parts of the country for mining J machinery and supplies. Mautifuc- , turors aunounco that at no time in I the past wuro they so rushed and oversupplicd with orders for every thing that goes to make up mining, milling and smelting equipment. This fact is also emphasized hy the announcement made this week liy the Allis-Chalmers company of this city hy the declaration of a quarterly dividend of ono mid three-fourths per cent on the preferred shares. Wo are informed !' this company that the volume of huslnsoH on the hooks of the company today far exceeds that of any time since tho organization of tho company, notwithstanding the fact that the output of the plants has heeu increased to a largo extent, and they can see no abatement of pros perity in their various branches of manufacture. The samo condition of airairs exists In nearly ovory othor company interested in tho manti fact uro of mining machinery or supplies. Thero seems to be an unlimited demand for all kinds of high grade machinery, which Is certainly a good indication that prosperity Is enjoyed in all lines of miiiiufacturo.
