THE SUMPTER MINER
SNOW CREEK
PLANS COMPLETED;
Detailed Bids to be Called for at
Once Style of Mill In
sures Close Saving.
A. B. Browne, of the engineering
firm of Browne &, Smith, consulting
enlgneor for the Snow Creek Mining
company, completed the plana for tfio
ten-stamp mill soon to be installed
at Snow Creek, last week, and early
this week finished the specifications.
Preliminary bids hare already" been
received and dotalled bids will now
be called for. It is thought that the
company will bo in a position to
start work on the mill by July 1.
Several feature's of this plant will
be departures from the usual pattern
of mills now used iu the district. It
will bo a ton-stamp concentrating
mill using two types of machines, tho
Wilftey and Fruo, tandem, thus in
suring a close saving of concentrates.
With an excoptlou or so, no other
mill in tho district employs a similar
systom. Another thing new lu tho
district Is tho automatic dollvory.
Tho rock broakor sots below tho largo
storage bins and tho oro is conveyed
to it by a gravity systom instead of
by direct handllug as is tho common
custom. From tho rock breaker it
goes to tho mill bins and tho stamps
by olovators, thus giving au auto
matic dollvory throughout.
Again, tho stamps havo no connec
tion whatovor with the rest of tho
mill. They aro anchored to bed rock
by hog chains, in absolutely indepen
dent framing, removing the vibration
from the othor parts of tho plant.
ROLLING STOCK
RECEIVED BY S.V.R.R.
Big Consignment Came in Last

A consignment of two engines, II vo
passonger coaches, .two- combination
mail, baggago und express curs, four
cngino tanks and a big' lot of box cars
was rocolved last wook by tuo-Stiuipter
Valley Railroad company, as tho first
shipment of tho purohnso of rolling
stock aud other equipment recently
niado. Tho rest of tho purchuso con
sisting of steel rails aud additional
rolling stock is expoctod any day.
Tho big shipmout just rocolved camo
on twoutyflve flat cars from Salt Lake
City.
The increase in the rolling stock
of the Sumpter Valley has boon mado
necessary for two reasons. First
there has been a big Incroase iu the
amount of business of tho road which
alone made an increase in the work
ing facilities necessary, aud second
the proposed extension of the line
some twelve miles beyond Whitney
into the Greenhorns accounts for tho
order of steel rails and in a measure
for the other equipment. It is un
drestood that this Greenhorn exten
sion is to be begun as soon as the
snow gets off and work can be sucess
fully carried on.
Rich Stringer at Dixie Meadows.
R. C. Reese, superintendent of
Dixie Meadows Gold Mining com-
pany, came in from their camp just
as we go to press, and reports a very
rich strike on their property lu the
north drift of tho upper workings.
It consists of a throe foot stringer in
the thirteen foot vein of oro, estimat
ed at $70,000 per ton. It is at least
exceedingly rich oro, "lousy" with
freo gold plainly vlsiblo with the
naked eye. Thoy of course do not
know as yot tho extout of this striug
er, having just struck it. Tho ore
looks very much like the North Pole
and tho Columbia ores. Prairlo City
