About six weeks ago the main working tunnel cut Into the ledge at a point 1 1110 feet from Its portal, at which point the ledge shows a width of 18 feet. Since the strike they have been drifting on the hanging wall to get under the ore shoot shown in No. 2 level. The tunnel is now lUM) feet in length, with the entire face of it in oie that carries good mlllllng values, which are improving as the largo ore shoot, known to Ih ahead of the drift, is appproached. The Alamo group is comprised of six patented claims, and is equipped with llrst- class boarding and bunk houses, tlmUir sheds and blacksmith shop. At tho left as tho tunnel is entered, is m fan oHratod by a water motor, which keeps tho air in tho mine pure uh that on the surface. The Alamo mine is ouo of the most oxtenslvoly dovelople.l proxrtles tu tho district. Work has Ihou pro gresslng continually for three years, Will Bury the World in Cheap Copper. Aro tho Utah producers to bury the world in cheap copper? Listen to this from tho Washington Star: "The group of mines just outside of Frisco In Utah Is to lie equipped with a perfected smelter for handling tho output of copper, so that when it leaves tho plant it will have been re duced to electrolytic copper ready for the consumer in open market," said Mr. II. T. Chappello of Salt Lake City to a Star man this morn ing. "This will Im) the llrst timo that u Utah smelter will be able to snap its lingers at the eastern plants and olfer copper for salo which has cost less to produce by 1 or 5 cents u pound. Other smelters ill tho neigh borhood aro arranging to put in tho same kind of a plant, so as to bo able to produce copper for the markets that would starve tho Lake Superior producer to death." While this is of intense Interest, it hardly ac counts for tho recent rlso In coppor stocks, especailly tho jump in Michi gan shares.
