TIMBER LAND, ACT JUNK S, 1878.- N0T1CK P0H PUBLICATION. One Miner Killed and An other Severely Injured. At about !) o'clock on lat Wednesday night, an unavoidable and distressing accident happened in the i-rosscut tunnel of the Oreiton-Motmrch mine near the Ked Hoy, which canned the almost instant death of Frank Murnh and broke the right arm of Al Lake in three places above the elbow. These men were engaged in timbering the tunnel when a huge mass of rock fell from the roof pinioning Mr. Marsh so that he was unable to extricate himself. Other workmen in the tunnel rushed to his assistance when a second cave occur ed which caused the injury to Mr. Lake. Medical aid was immediately sum moned. Dr. Anderson, of Sumpter, being one who responded to the summons, but Frank Marsh was beyond human aid. Al Lake was brought to the Similiter hospital where he (lied Sunday after noon. The funeral took placu Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist church, Rev. Ileppe olliciating. The remains of Frank Marsh were brought to Sitmptcr in a fine casket and from this place shipped to Weston, Oregon, on Friday last for burial. The dcccnt-vd was a member of the Knight of Pythias. The local members of that order turned out in their uniforms and full regalia, escorting the body to the depot from whence a guard of honor at tended the deceased to his tlnal resting place. Nothing was left undone that could be performed by the Killen, Warner, Stewart company, fiscal agents of the Oregon-Monarch company, to care for the unfortunate man who was killed or the one injured.
