Apparently the much discussed silver
question which was so thrashed out

threats etc., which won in the United
States, may not count for much with
the despised Mexicans.
There is something unfathomable in
this silver business after all ; while the

are sieuding millions of dollars in the
purchase, of Mexican silver mines.

question has been merely slumbering,

Summit.
This latest proKirty consists of four
quart claims known as the Hig Horn
group. One of these claims crosses the
North Polo divide and the other three
lie in the itock Creek basin.
The four claims Summit, Cliff, Hig
Horn and Little Hig Horn cover one
continuous large tlssure ledge that varies
in width from 4 to 'JO feet.
The vein has been opened on the Sum
mit and thence folio win I down the Hinik
Creek side of the divide, where, at a
distance of -100 feet below the summit,
the ledge was found to lie eight feet
wide, with three feel of ore showing the
arsenical stain, which is the best in
dication of value in Cracker Creek ore.
The ledge is one of the parallel veins
of the mother lode system and crossed
the divide to the east of the .North Pole
ledge and at a higher elevation. Some
who have examined it think it is quite
probable that it is a northerly extension
of the Cracker-Oregon ledge.
The company's present plan is to keep
this group themselves and develop
it into a producer. The Hook creek side
of the mountain is very steep and makes
a most excellent tunnel proposition.
Ity oteuuig a tunnel on one of the
lower claims a depth of something like
IfiOO feet can be attained. Owing to the
declivity of the mountain the vein lies
exHscd in many places and is easily
traceable down its side.
Plaui for development have not been
fully matured. Nothing will be done
during the winter months at leant. In
the spring it la 'the intention of the
Klllen, Warner, Stewart company to
push the work with their usual vigor.

ment sees lit drifting can begin on these
leads, thus blocking out ore reserves for
future treatment.
All interest and work in being concen
trated In pushing the crosscut through
the heart of the mountain, that the en
tire proerty may be thoroughly ex
ploited and the vast mineral deposits
revealed. This is pursuing a scientific
and conservative policy and will be pro
ductive of the best and largest results.
Many proM)rtles fail because treating
plants are erected before the ground has
been thoroughly explored and the com
pany has been fully apprised of the
character and extent of their ore bodies.
When this crosscut has penetrated the
mountain and opened every ledge in
tersecting the property, the manage
ment will be in position to determine
what kind of machinery will best treat
the ores, and what should be the mag
nitude of the plant.
The cropping veins, which have been
proven by surface work, are being ap
proached day by day, and in the course
of time will be opened up and their
values proven by the tunnel now being
pushed into the mountain.
