They will return to Sumpter by the last
of the weeK.
J. F. Meikle, Superintendent of the
Mack Kagle mine at Malheur City, has
moved his family to that place and will
reside there in the future. Mr. Meikle
will devote hin time to the mine and
mill.

from Baker City on Friday and returned
Sunday. Mr. .lett Iiiih just purchased u
large tract of laud adjoining his home
stead Itclow town. Ho has the greatest
faith in the future of Sumpter.
When "Jimmie" McGuigan arrived at
Alamo on Sunday with his bride. Grand
Old Quebec Mountain had a wedding
present in store for him in the shape of
one of the biggest mining strikes made
in eastern Oregon for some time.

Parties traveling over the county road
between Sumpter and Whitney, com
plain that the lumber company, by
dragging logs along the road, Instead of
using their skidway, are making that
throroughfare next to impossible and
unite dangerous.

he will make it hot for the person who
wrote them, if the original letters can
lie obtained.

Minnesota, sK'iit several days here last
week and purchased the controlling
interest in a mining preperty, the full
data of which is not yet ready for the
public. Mr. .tones has gone to Sun
Fraucii-co, hut will return to Sumpter
in a short time.
