Found Nugget Worth $108.
Nuggets, of all shapes and sizes, are so
I frequently found in and near this his
toric old town oi uanyon i;uy, that the
finding lust week by Messrs. Yorgenson
and Hunter of an $108 nugget while
making a partial cleanup at the Hum
boldt company's mine in the uper end
of town, caused little excitement and
less comment. The nugget was about
the size and shape of an average lieu
egg and contained but little quartz. It
wus found in the Hume, some distance
from where it was uncovered by the
pipe, its shape milking it easily moved
by tho water. The company is working
eonie now ground and if all reports are
true, will likely make some handsome
cleanups during the summer. As a
mineral belt, both placer and quartz, the
Canyon City district is not excelled by
any in eastern Oregon. All the district
needs is capital and that is surely com
