Seymour Bell went to Ln Grande yes terday on a business trip. I,. C. Edwards returned a few days since from Portland, where he had been for a week. E. E. Cleaver came In from the John Djy country this afternoon, too late to catch the train for Maker. Mayor J. H. Robblns went to Pendleton Monday to consult with his associates In the Colorado oil proposition. C. H. Hecht returned yesterday from a trip to Granite, Lawtor. and Alamo, where he took orders for a number of suits of clothes. W. C. Calder reports the sale of a larKe block of West Side stock to Mon tana and Indiana people, a six figure I proposition. Paul C. Kates, of San Francisco, is in i Sumpter visiting his old friend W. C. E., superintendent of the Speculator at Butte, and Professor Schulenberg, of St. Louis, have been looking over the Bonanza district the past week and express themselves as being highly pleased. They expect to return at an early day and make further Investiga tions. Colonel W. S. Ray, of Port Arthur, Canada, passed through Sumpter Monday on his way home from the White Elephant and Bonanza West, where he has been for two or three days Inspecting these properties, In which he Is largely Interest ed. Nothing could be learned of his In tentions for the future. General Warren arrived in Sumpter last Thursday and left for Spokane and Butte Sunday. He is working up a big mining deal, with Montana people as the pros pective buyers.
