THE SUMPTER MINER Wednesday, April 10. 1901 The Demand For Sumpter Gold Properties 8 TO I INVESTORS 1 1 TO I MINE OWNERS 1 L-a av:araggf IS GREATER ATTHIS PERIOD THAN IN ALL THE HISTORY OF EASTERN OREGON MINING EXPERIENCE. We want any number of legitimate mining propositions that will bear the very strictest examination. Dividend paying mines, partially developed mines with ore reserves, prospects with merit are asked for. In listing properties with us, state specifically cash and bond price. Kempf, one of the owners of the once famous Montana, now known as the Hlue Dragon mine, over in the Greenhorn range, was In town I'uesday and Wed nesday. "Ours Is a poor inan'.s country," he said, referring to the Dixie Hutte and Greenhorn country in gmeral. "A prom Ineut leature Is this: The ore shoots reach the grass roots. You can take a pan ol dirt almost anywhere on the Greenhorn range and get good prospects; crush the concentrates and you can p.m nunc gold Ironi them. On our dilferent properties we have done ido fert of loca tion and development work since last fall, without the use of a single stick of pow der. I here Is an ntuiud.iuce of wood for -til purposes, and tine water powers on both Itoutder and Heaver creek. The district Is easy of access and most of the mines and prospects cm he reached In a buggv. " I he homier contract for a foo-foot crosscut tunnel at the Diadem was com pleted last week in the remarkably fast time ol 72 days, w itli live, men employed. Much ot the ground was soft and broken and required timbering. The tunnel cut a small vein carrying high values, but the main vein was not readied. "At the Golden Gate, Doug. Weaver recently struck a shoot of high grade ore In the south drift. "Joe Gassman, Chas. Chishnlm and Duncan Meuzles have done considerable development work on their l.ady Wash ington group this winter, and have shown up some good ore. "What about your own properties?" the Miner man asked. "O, they're all right, I guess," replied Mr. Kempf. "We hnvn't much to say about them. Come over and visit the district and let the properties speak for ' themselves. Some of them (and not our's alone) are eloquent orators to a practical J audience. For instance: The Blue 1 Dragon averages over seven feet wide ! through seven claims; Its ore is a hema J tlte carrying tellurium and assaying $1$ to $600 a ton. Come and see us;" and I leaving a sample of the ore for our cabl I net, a typical sample of the undaunted, hopeful, hardy and happy western pros pector hit the road for the hills. Prairie City Miner. I Balttet Buys the Brasos. ' It Is reported that Letson Halllet will I soon acquire the Hrasos mine, owned by the Gelsers and Rlewetts and on which a mill has recently bren installed. This Is I one of the "good things" of eastern Ore- I gon and is understood to be a producer In I its present stage, though if it goes to that 1 rustling operator and promoter, Balliet will no doubt increase development and j work the property for all it Is worth. A ' few more such live manipulators at 1 Halllet is proving himself to be, would as- I slst largely In showing the mining world what is here and ills only a matter of time until some of those who are waiting and watching will wonder how they came to overlook their opportunities. Good Ok in the Ben Harrison. There Is a property In the Greenhorn mountains which, to all appearances, will soon be a winner. It Is the Ren Harri son. This property Is owned by James A. Howard and E. Gilliam and his son, Al Gilliam, all of Pendleton. It Is now under bond for a large sum of money to A. J. Reckwith, who Is operating for a wealthy eastern syndicate. Recently n vein of ore eight feet wide, assaying from ft$ to f 34, was encountered In the lower tunnel. This ore shoot bears every evi dence of being permanent, and If so, the Ren Harrison will soon be one of the heavy producers of this district. Lawton Standard.
