When ivvo men k Into the courts to

nliject ill contention Is of more or less
v.ilue.

An luterrsthiK leRiil point is Involved
In this suit. I he hlocU of stock held hy
lillvich Is .1 p.irl of the pool of 750,000
shares now in escrow In the First Dank of
Sumpter, which accordion to the hy l.iws
el the company cm not he released until
J.inu.ity i, 1002, Should the plaintiff win
the Milt, another would have to he Insti
tuted hi order to net possession of the
Mock, and at that point of the name, all
kinds of leal complications would atle.
The defend int did not sign the pooling
agreement, the stock at that time helng
In the name ol another, hut the transfer
was made just ptcvlous to placing the
whole amount In escrow and was Included
In the orgln.il agreement.
I his, suit, of course, does not In the
least effec' the tieasury stock, which
alone can now he nought at any
pilce. Nor does it Interfere in any way
vtllh the affairs of the company. The
progress of the suit, however, Is watched
with much Interest hy the other stock
holders, to see what process, if any, can
be employed to withdraw the block from
the pool.
Rtatuue Operatlooa at the While Swan.
I.etsoii Halllet, general manager of the
White Swan Mines company, limited,
who, through the failure of the old own
rs of the White Swan mine to redeem the
judgment held by hl within the time re-
quired hy law, recently acquired complete
control and possession of that famous prop
erty, will at mice commence operations on
an extensive scale. Prom the offices of
Mr. Halllet's company In this city it is
given nut that the old shaft will he un
watered as soon as possible, and develop
ment work promptly Inaugurated. An
examination of the shaft reveals the fact
that it Is In much better condition than
was anticipated. It Is not believed to be
seriously caved, and will only need re
timbering. To uuwater the shaft is an
undertaking of some magnitude, but it
has been pronounced perfectly feasible.
New hoisting works and pumps will be
Installed at an early date, and the rich
bodies of ore known to exist In two dif
ferent submerged levels will be promptly
converted into bars of gold bullion. The
first shift of men will be placed at work
.Monday, primarily to prepare the lO'Stamp
mill for a run of Carrol It ore, and then
the work of unwatering the shaft will be
Inaugurated. Maker City Herald.
