E. C. Gove returned yesterdiy from
Spokane.

George ft. Tedrnwe, who Ins been con
lined to his home for three weeks with
typhoid fever, Is again able to appear on
the streets.

A miner named Olsen was brought to
Drs. Tape & Pearce's hospital from Ho
uanza Saturday with a broken leg, which
Injury was received while working In the
mine.

Colonel Grayson came in from (taker
City yesterday, on his way to the Itahy

which has arrived in Sumpler.
H. S. Chlpp, who left here last week to

Oregon, for which he worked for years

was sent for and may remain here.
A. L. McBwen, the well known mining
expert, representing Canadian capital
here, was married in Raker City last
week to Mrs. W. A. Griffith. They will
make Sumpter their home, having taken
the Chlpp residence on north Columbia
street.
I.. R. Freeman, of the Northwestern
l-arm and Hume at Seattle, cam on
the Monday evening train. He Is here to
see and learn what he can about the town
and d'strlct, with a view to publishing an
article relative thereto hi his paper, to
gether with illustrations.
Messrs. Devnre and Asbury, who oper
ated tile placer mine In fiuck gulch, have
shut down their camp and gone to .Mal
heur to spend the winter. 'They have
some quart, properties down there, which
will receive their attention for the next
few months.
(tracked Owen, of Paducah, Kentucky,
arrived in town this forenoon. He has in
vested money in mining and comes here
to go into business. He says that recent
political troubles in his state have cut the
regular democratic majority of forty or
fifty thousand down to the present small
unknown number.

Harold Sweelapple went to Portland a
few days shue to meet an old friend with
whom he went to school in England. He
lias just came lo this country, having re
lently been left a large fortune and is
looking for Investments.
