THE SUMPTER MINER. 1 1 Nervous Debility in Men! , vmWf W- ' J COPYRIGHTED If the patient suffers from a weakness peculiar to men, one of those disorders resulting from youthful dissipation, the very worst thing possible for him to do is to put med icine into his stomach. The drugs all doctors use for such cantharides, morphine, strychnia, etc. are poisonous, and either stimulate or deaden. I have seen more drug wrecks than whisky wrecks. 1 give weak men a natural remedy. 1 use ELECTRICITY in its 'purest form. There is no chance for injury in using the galvanic current. It never stimulates. It must strengthen. But for proper results you must have a continuous application several hours a day. I recognized this fact over 25 years ago, and at once got up the portable battery. This developed into my present Dr. Sanden Electric Belt, with attachment for men, now known and used in all parts of the world. CURRENT INSTANTLY FELT. You adjust the belt to body night at when retiring to bed and take off next morning. Do this for two or three months and take care of your general health. That's all I ask. Over 8,000 men, young and old, restored to strength during 1899. r n I J f li a Drop In nt my office and consult me free of charge, or write for free book, "THREE CLASSES rTRfi KnnK AMI LnnSlllTfllinn OF MEN," sent In plain sealed envelope. SANDEN Dept. 19. Russell Building, Portland, Oregon MINES AND PROSPECTS. Worth What They Are Worth No One Can Look Far Into the Ground. There is no end of discussion and argu ment concerning the relative value of producing mines and prospects, as Invest ments. The question will never be settled, for the simple reason that there Is no way of settling it. No fixed or even general rule can be laid down. Every case must de pend upon its own facts and circumstances. A producing mine, no matter what the pro duct, whether large or small, will not be a good investment If the purchaser pays too much for it. The real value of such a mine depends not merely upon the im-j mediate output, but also upon how long it will last. It has been well remarked that no min-. lug geologist, however highly educated' and skillful, can look with certainty very ' far Into the ground. Following the strike and dip of a ledge there may be two de-. veiopmenis ai pumis suuic uisuiiiic ii.im, giving fair assurance of a continuity of value between the two points. But be yound the outermost point at which actual development has shown the values to ex ist, there can be very little of certainty. If a body of ore has been followed down to a considerable depth with no diminu tion of size of richness, there is a good strong probability of its continuing for some distance further, but the absolute certainty exists only to a very limited ex tent. Within the zone of actual development much can be affirmed with certainity, but when we get beyond that we leave the domain of certainity and enter that of probabilities, which will be more or less strong according to circumstances. These nay be such as to make the probability almost a certainity. But in any event, if the purchaser pays more than the mine i worth', it will not be a good investment. The same is true of "prospects." They are worth just what they are worth and nothing more. Hut in the case of a mere prospect there are more chances to take and still greater care and skill are neces sary on the part of the purchaser. In short, a prospect, however good, is not really a mine until it is developed into one and the values proven. More men have become rich from buy ing prospects than from the purchase of producing mines, and there are good rea sons why it should be so. There are vast ly more "prospects" than there are pro ducing mines, and little more opportuni ties. Besides, while there are more chances to take In the case of a prospect, the price is usually very much less than that of a producing mine, and In the event of suc cess the profit is greater. Comparatively few producing mines are bought outright. Of course, wliere they are owned by Incorporations or joint stock companies, the stock frequently changes hands, but this Is largely a matter of sneculatien. When a mine is Individual or partnership property, the owners, as a rule, either want to keep it themselves or they want a higher price than they can get. Dally Mining Record.
