TALK OF THE TOWN.
J. I). Goss left Saturday for his home
in St. Paul.
Mrs. General Wnrren went to tinker
City today.
Dr. Greenlee, dentist, is located over

Edward Everett Young reached home
today from a visit to his old home in Ala
li.iina. T. J. Qulnby, of Granite, died at tliat
place last l:iiday, of pneumonia, aged
sixty-two years.

buyr their little daughter.

I Jr. J. I Dickson, of Portland, partner
of the late Archie Downle, was in Sump
trr yesterday. He came to linker City to
attend the funeral.
Dudley D. Lancaster, a prominent
mining broker of Spokane, largely Inter
ested In Reservation properties, arrived in
Sumpter this forenoon.
P. I). Mealy has remodeled the room
where lie formerly conducted the shoe
business and will have a well appointed
cigar and fruit store there hereafter.

Mrs. Dr. Tape returned tills week from
Detroit. They meat home In the house ,

forenoon stating that his wife had died in i
Los Angles of spinal meningitis. The

ernor Mackintosh, left Saturday for his i
home In Rossini d. He was here on busi-
ness connected with the Governor's In
terests In the Sumpter Townsite Com
pany, Limited.
II. N. Carrier, funnel Iy of Spokane,
passed through Sumpter Sunday on his
way to Prairie City, to examine some
mining proptrty in that section. On his
letum lie intends spending some time
about Sumpter, on the same mission.

its office Monday from the building in the
rear of the First Hank of Sumpter to the

street. One of the store rooms has been
partitioned into three apartments, making
very convenient office rooms.
Goss & Swigett have moved their real
estate offices from up stairs to the bank
parlors on the ground floor, In the same
building, where they are nicely located

I Some extensive deals have recently been
I consummated by the linn, principally for
outside investors.
'I he outfit of the Colorado Transfer
company, extended mention of which was
made In these columns last week, is now
in the corral at Pendleton, except about
forty stray horses that have not yet been
rounded up. The stock now at Pendle
ton will be driven through to Sumpter,
leaving there tomorrow and will be here
in about five days.
Clark Snydc returned several days
since from Denver, where he had been on
business for a month past. He reports

I mining men there, regarding the Sumpter
j district, and that many of them will Come

G. II. Poster, chairman of the county
democratic central committee, and C. VV.
James, secretary, were in Sumpter yes
terday, seeing what arrangments had
been made for holding the democratic con
vention here Saturday. The democrats
will meet in Ellis Opera house and the
populists In the fraternal hall, which is in
the same building.
