THE SUMPTER MINER. Wednesday, March 28, 1900 IO " TOM GRAY RETURS HOME. Became Very Tired Antwering Questions About Sumpter. Tom Gray returned yesterday from a two weeks trip to British Columbia, Washington and Montana points, going as far east as Great Falls In the last named state. He said he got tired an surfing questions about Sumpter; that every wheie he went, lie was besieged by people who want to come here, lie was well loaded with literature about the country, and distributed these tracts to good advantage. Especially did he lind mining men in terested in the district. Hundreds of this class of desirable dtieus are hesitating whether to come here or go to Cape Nome. 'I he further they investigate the subject, the better will be Sumpter's chances for catching tills doubting crowd. 'I he impression is growing that too many people ate going to the nmtheri, diggings; that there will not be half a bite for one tenth of those w ho contemplate mailing the expensive ttlp. Mr. Gray feels sure that many miners will conic into this dis trict this season, but they don't wish to arrive here until they can get out Into the hills. 'I hey can't realize that the snow is already nearly gone, and that prospect ing is now being done. Mr. (Jray found waiting for him here a commission from Governor Geer, ap pointing him delegate to the third Inter national Mining congress, which meets in Milwaukee, June im to 23.
