Weigand, the leading mer chant and business man of Bourne, was In town yesterday on his way to Baker City to visit his brother, who is In the hospital there. The Oregonian In Its New Year num ber estimates the gold output of this state at 3,285,000, nearly two million more than the state is credited with by the di rector of the mint. A jolly sleighing party, composed of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Tedrowe, Mr. and Mrs H. P. Cassldy, Miss Myers, Miss Katherine Myers, M. E. Thornton and Cecil Hoseason, drove to McEwen Sunday. Money Raised for Dcttltute Woman. The widow of Jacob Sliered, the man who died here last week, came down from Spokane and had the body interred. After paying the burial expenses, she found her self entirely out of funds. T. D. Bel linger and Mr. Heard, at whose house Shered died, went out and in less than an hour raised $62.50, which was turned over to the destitute woman and she re turned to her home in Spokane. Death of a Miner. William Wackford, a miner forty-two vears of age, employed at the Columbia I mine, was taken sick Ith appendicitis Christmas day and dleu New Year's day. Ilie body was brought to Case's under taking parlors and the funeral services held here yesterday, conducted by Rev. Mr. Shannon, the body being interred in the Sumpter cemetery. M. E. Church Services. Rev. Mr. Young, of the M. E. Church, Haker City, will hold quarterly meeting service at McEwen and Sumpter next Sat urday and Sunday, in the place of Rev. (i. A.
