THE SUMPTER MINER. Wednesday, November 29, 1899 SAW MILL SWAMPED. No Orders Will be Booked for Immediate Delivery. Manager Stoddard, of the Sumpter Lumber company, states that he will not book any more orders for lumber, agree ing to deliver at an early date. His com pany Is literally swamped with business, and for some time past has been obliged to call on the mill at Maker City, owned by Stoddard Brothers, for assistance In -supplying the local demand. Some Sump ttr buyers have had to net lumber from outside mills and ship It In. To add to his troubles, he has met with two annoyiiiK Incidents during the past week. One Is a dispute witli the Sump ter Valley road over freight charges on si carloads of lumber from the Bridal Veil mills, which has arrived and for which customers arc clamoring. He will not unload It until the matter of freight rate Is settled. The other Is that he has had to shut down his mill for repairs lor a few days. He hopes to resume operations today or tomorrow. I he company now has on file, so Mr. Stoddard informs Till: AllNER, orders for lumber with which to build more than twenty residences and a half dozen busi ness houses. The latter are for W. C. Calder, Carl Adler, A. I'. (Joss, Attorney McCnlloch and W. I.. Vinson. Just as soon, however, as the differ ences with the railroad are adjusted, lum ber will be rushed In from the outside and the local trade taken care of, and Mr. Stoddard kuous bow ro do it.
