I tl Wednesday, October 18, 1899. THE SUMPTER MINER. 3 BIG MINING DEAL. l WE BUY ALL OUR GOODS WHOLESALE AND W Reported Sale of the Red Boy : and North Pole. UJ IN CARLOAD LOTS RETAIL -1 t It ts again reported, this time on appa rently good authority, that the Red Boy mine has been sold.- The details of the deal are not given, further than that Mr Godfrey, one of the owners, who has been InXondon for some time past, has finally accomplished the object of his trip there, consummating the sale to English capital ists for $3,000,000. It Is generally be lieved here that two millions were re fused for this property some months since, so the three million dollar proposition re ceives general credence. Coupled with this report of the sale of the Red Boy, Is another to the effect that Mr. Godfrey has also placed the North Pole with an English syndicate for $900, coo. Both are said to be bona fide sales, which is very probable, s the mines are sufficiently developed to demonstrate their permanent value, and their owners would purely not be willing to tie them upon any working bond, or other cash dodging device of the promoters. The Baker City .Democrat of yesterday also reports the sale of the Bonanza for 3, 000,000, giving no particulars. Noth ing of-thls had before been heard1-In Sumpter. Now, this is one the things you see In THE MINER, the absolute accuracy of which Is not guaranteed .by a good and sufficient bond In on old line, "conserva tive" surety company, but to all appear ances, It approaches near enough to truth to make it good newspaper reading, though there is a vague possibility that It may not be "so." Heavy Weight Editor Headed Thk Way. The Butte, Montana, Times, of the fourteenth Inst.,-says: "James Brown, the' 'editor of this newspaper, left last Monday to take in the magnitude of the great, Sumpter mining district, where his old, friend, General Charles S. Warren, Is so extensively interested. Mr. Brown may probably extend his trip to San Francisco, his old home." It Is under stood that this visit has some connection with General Warren's recent application for the Associated press -franchises here and at Baker City. Mr. Brown has been one of the Montana heavy weight pe'ncll lighters for ten or a dozen years. THE MINER has been unable to learn when the dally will be started. - - , . Way Soapier k Reahy Aivaactaff., It' Is three weeks since the Sumpter Hardware store bought 1he barn and Jot adjoining THE MINER office to the west, which It uses as a hay warehouse, for $400. Saturday Fred Mosby, as agent, sold ft to C. F. Booth, of Butte, Mon tana, for $700. The new owner has rented it to a Chinaman for $25 a month. And that Is the way Sumpter real estate is jumping and selling. Improvtmmt at the Ocx. Stannard Lohiie passed through Sump ter Monday on his 'way from the Ibex mine, where he has been working for some time past, to his old home at Oro ville) California. He says that men are now working in the Ibex at a depth of 200 feet, thirty being employed. The company Is also constructing an under ground water ditch to carry water 2700 feet to the mine's hoisting machine and boarding house. An ample supply of water will be conveyed in covered boxes.
