PORTLAND, Mar. 17 Members of
the state executive committee of the
American Legion are expected to
gather in this city tonight for an Im
portant meeting called by William B.
Kollett, state commander, to consider
the attitude of the veterans throug
out Oregon on beneficial legislation
before congress and to discuss plans
for the next state convention of the
legion.
The meeting will be held at state
headquarters in the Morgan building.
Commander Follett recently dis
patched James O. Convill, as repre
sentative of the Oregon department,
to Washington, D. C, to attend a na
nional gathering of legion representa
tives on behalf of pending beneficial
legislation.
The next state convention is to be I
held in Astoria and E. J. Eivrrs, state
adjutant is to report at the meeting
the result of a conference with legion
members in that city this week con
cerning plans for the convention. The
date may be set as early as may,
though indications arc that Astoria
veterans would prefer it a little lat
er, to permit of more varied enter
tainment .for delegates at Seaside.
