James E. West, of New York
to Promote Organiza
tion in Oregon
James E. West, chief executive of
the boy scouts of America, is to ap
pear in Portland this evening. Mr.
West is rated as the biggest man In
America in the boy scout movement
and has directed the activities of the
organization for the last ten years
which has a membeship at the present
time of 400,000.
Brought up in an Orphan asylum
in New York, he learned the need
of orphans, and a: the early age of
, 16, he planned a movement based on
the moral, practical precept: "For
every childless home a homeless
child." and he was instrumental in
