DIES HERE SUNDAY,
Well Known Retaurant Man
Pasfies Away After Fight
With Tuberculowis
John W. Chriit, who, with his bro
ther, Jamet, conducted tha Imperial
restaurant, died Sunday afternoon at
the f imily home two miles northwest
of the city on the Corvallis road.
Mr. Christ had been ilf with uber-
culoia for the last 18 months, follow
ing an attack of influenza. He tried
every means for relief and went to
Arizona-UTtt faTl for several weeks.
He' returned to Albany about three
weeks ago. v
He was born in Erqusky, near Tif
lis, Russia, May 20, 1882. He came to
the United States, landing at New
York and com frig west to Taeoma
where ne was employed in rhe Tacoma
hotel for three or four years. In 1910
he came to Albany and, with his bro
ther, James, bought out the Home
Rcsta'jrant Later they opened the
Imperial restaurant, which they have
been conducting up to the present.
Efforts are being made to secure a
Russian priest from Seattle. If this
is not Dostible one will come up from
Portland to conduct the services in
native language.
