8ALE.M Four Indictment were re
turned by the grand Jury which ad
journed Saturday. A two-count bill
wa returned against Frank Wagner,
charging burglery. Both charges
were in connection with Wagner's al
leged attempt to carry away the con
tent of the Juliu Alum and Syring
Bank store at Silverton on July 16,
1919. In this burglary, it i laid that
an auto truck waa used by Wagner in
removing groceriea and other mer
chandiae from the Silverton mercan
tile establishment.
The second indictment is against
John Wyatt, charged with a statutory
offense. Wyatt ia a Silverton ma
chinist A 16-year-old girl is the prin
cipal witneas for the prosecution.
Elvia Pulley and Norman Owen
are charged with larceny in another
indictment Pulley and Owen are
two youths who live near Hubbard
and who are charged with -the theft
of 900 pounds of clover eed from the
Peter Smith farm near Hubbard.

Kincaid Park to be
Bird and Game Refuge
Deed have been filed for the se
questering of 600 acres of land be
tween Eugene and Springfield for a
period of five years by which the
land will become a refuge for wild
bird, report the Guard.
One tract of 600 acrea haa been leas
ed to Carl D. Shoemaker, state game
warden, which Includes Kincaid park
and an addition to the park, excepting
that portion which ia owned by other
partiea than H. R. Kincaid and wife.
The leaaa for the 100 acre tract ia
dated Nov. 18, 1919, and also places
land adjacent to Kincaid park in the
tract which ia to become a wild bird
and game refuge for five years.
Estate of Stayton
Man Dead 25 Years
To be Opened Now
After 25 year the relative of T. E.
Lambert, of Stayton, have decided
that hia estate needa administration
and have petitioned the court of Mar
ion county that the necessary legal
steps be taken to declare the Lambert
estate open for administration.
Lambert formerly lived at Stayton
and was last heard of 25 years ago
when he left for a position in the city
of Whatcom, Whatcom county. Lam
bert'a relatives assert that they have
endeavored in every possible way to
locate the missing man and have long
been convinced that he met with foul
play soon after his departure from
Stayton in 1892. Journal.

UP SKINNER'S BUTTE
Clyde Fink Announces Butte
to Be Famous Through
Annual Contest

In the climbing of Skinner's butto
New Year's day, Clyde Fisk has es
tablished an annual event that in an
other year will bring to Eugene alt
the leading motorcycle driver of th
valley who happen to be ambitious
to make a record. In fact, Mr. Fisk
believe that for this part of the val
ley the antral climb will become ona
of the sporting events of the year,
just as such affairs attract motorcy
cle men in southern California.
The Harley-Davidum entered by Mr.
Fisk for the climb was ridden by Bill
Davis, the shop foreman. The Hendre
son n the contest was driven by Gale
Smith.
In making the climb, the start np
the butte was made just above the
McMurphey house, then straight to
th road, then 60 feet along the road
and the the long stiff climb to the
top of the butte. Mr. Davis on the
Harley-Davidson made the last tap of
the climb in 35 seconds, climbing:
straight up. In order to hold, tract
or wheel was osed for the rear wheeL
The first half of the pull op the
butt has a grade of 69 percent while
the second half, after leaving the road
haa a much longer poll with a grade
of 43 per cent
Mr. Fisk lays that only once be
